About

Welcome to my page! My name is Shaunak Kulkarni – I’m 25 years old and live in New York City. I’m originally from San Jose, California, but grew up in Pune, India (and still believe that Pune is the best city in the world). I graduated from the University of Pennsylvania with a B.S. in Economics, and spent a year as an Investment Banking Analyst at Financo before working as a Venture Capital Analyst at 137 Ventures.

I love reading and writing about startups, tech, entrepreneurship and venture capital, particularly in the consumer space – talk to me about marketplaces, mobility, edtech, and social. I like thinking about how people’s lives are going to change.

At Penn, I was President of Penn Masala, the world’s first South Asian acapella group. Cheesy as it may sound, Masala truly defined my time at Penn – it gave me unforgettable memories, lifelong friends, and a love for singing and Bollywood music that’s probably never going to change. Check out some of my work with them below.

I’m a huge poker enthusiast, and love the occasional game of Blackjack – if you ever need a casino buddy, I’m your guy. I love playing soccer, cricket, and tennis (Chelsea, Indian Cricket Team/Mumbai Indians, Rafael Nadal fans hmu), and am always down for a game of Catan.
